Want to speak "wine lingo"?......Here's some of the terms you need to know!
Acidity: Acids give our wine tartness. You classify the acid as tart, crisp, soft or weak. Tartaric acid is in all grapes but some wines have more acidity than others. For example white wines have much more acid than reds. That's what gives the white wine it's "crispness" or makes your tongue "tingle".
Body: This just means the "weight" of the wine in your mouth. It has nothing to do with taste, only how it feels in your mouth. There are light-bodied, medium-bodied, and full-bodied wines....my advice to you is test some different reds at the same time to fully understand "Body".
Bouquet: After a wine ages, it has a certain...smell...or Bouquet. The Bouquet can be chocolate, cigars, roses, and hundreds of other aromas. After you swirl a glass of wine, put your whole nose in the glass and sniff two or three quick sniffs...you see what "Bouquet" is.
Okay, that's enough for now, I don't want to fry your brain! Keep checking this page for more wine lingo. Enjoy a glass of wine and test your "smarts"!
